Privacy Policy

What we collect
Account information
- Email address (used only to sign you in via a one-time code — see below).
- A display name and avatar you choose to set.
Location data
- Live GPS location, speed, and accuracy while the app is active or running in the background, for as long as you are a member of at least one Circle or Trip.
- Location history, used to show you and your Circle where a member has been, build driver reports (halts, distance, top speed), and evaluate geofence boundaries.
Device information
- Battery level, used only to alert your Circle if your phone is running low (so tracking loss isn't mistaken for something else).
- Push notification token, used to deliver alerts (SOS, geofence, low battery, checkpoint) when the app isn't open.
What we do not collect (today)
Traxl does not request access to your contacts, photos, messages, or call history. Traxl does not currently record audio. A future "listen in" feature for parents monitoring a child's device is under evaluation and, if it ships, will require its own explicit, revocable consent from the device being listened to, will be clearly indicated on that device while active, and this policy will be updated before it is available to anyone.
Who can see your location
Only the members of a Circle or Trip you have joined can see your live location and history, and only for as long as you remain a member. Traxl staff do not routinely view individual users' location data; access is limited to what is required to operate, secure, and troubleshoot the service.
How your data is used
- To show live location and history to your Circle/Trip members.
- To evaluate geofences and send you and your Circle alerts.
- To generate driver reports (halts, distance, top speed) for Trip mode.
- To operate the SOS feature.
- To keep the service secure and investigate abuse.
Traxl is ad-supported. We do not sell your precise location data to advertisers or data brokers. Advertising on Traxl (when enabled) uses standard mobile ad networks, which may use non-precise data (such as general region or device identifiers) under their own privacy policies — this section will be expanded with specifics before ads are enabled.
Data retention
Location history is retained so you can review recent activity and driver reports. You can delete your account and data at any time — see Delete Account & Data.
Children's privacy
Traxl is designed to be added to a family Circle by a parent or guardian who creates the account and Circle. A parent/guardian adding a child's device to their Circle is responsible for having the legal authority to do so. Traxl does not knowingly allow a child to create their own independent account without a guardian's involvement.
Your choices
- Leave any Circle or Trip at any time to stop sharing your location with it.
- Turn off background location at the OS level, which will stop live tracking (and will show as offline to your Circle).
- Delete your account and associated data — see the linked page above.
