What Traxl does for your family

Traxl is a family and friends live-location app for Android (iPhone coming soon): your Circle on one map, with SOS, crash and flight detection, place alerts, check-ins, live links and group trips with a report for every ride. Free on Google Play, made in India, available worldwide.

Live family location on one map

Every Circle member appears on one map, updating every few seconds while they move and settling to a steady anchor when they are still. Sharing keeps working with the app closed once background location is allowed, and Android always shows a notification while it does. Under each person's name Traxl shows the place they are near, how fresh the update is, their speed when travelling, and their battery.

Standard, dark, satellite and terrain maps

Every map in Traxl (Live, History, Places, trips) uses the style you choose: standard or dark on the free plan, and satellite and terrain with Traxl Plus. Satellite is a hybrid view, so roads, area names and shop names stay visible over the imagery. The map can follow the time of day or stay light or dark.

One-tap SOS to your whole Circle

SOS sends a high-priority alert with live location to every Circle member at once, and can show an optional emergency contact. It starts from the app, a home-screen widget, a launcher shortcut, a Quick Settings tile, or (if you turn it on) by shaking the phone three times, always with a short countdown you can cancel. It needs a data connection. It alerts your Circle; it does not call emergency services.

Crash detection while driving

While a drive is in progress, Traxl looks for a sudden stop together with an impact spike from the phone's accelerometer. Ordinary hard braking does not trigger it. The driver is first asked "Are you OK?"; if there is no answer, the Circle is alerted with the location. It alerts family, not emergency services.

Flight take-off and landing alerts

Traxl recognises a flight from sustained speed or altitude and tells the Circle when it starts and when you land. Cabin GPS often drops out mid-flight, so the landing alert usually fires on the first fixes at the destination.

Arrive and leave alerts for home, school and work

Save any place as a geofence and get a notification when a member arrives or leaves it. Quiet hours silence alerts overnight. Useful for checking a child reached school or tuition, or that a parent got home. Free Circles can save 3 places; Traxl Plus allows 15.

Activity feed, with where they are now

The Activity feed lists what happened and when: who arrived at or left a place, SOS alerts, low-battery warnings and check-ins. Open one person's feed and the map shows where they are now, or their last known location if their phone has gone quiet, with how long ago that was.

Low-battery alerts

When a member's battery drops to about 15%, the Circle gets one notification, and another when it is back up, rather than a stream of repeats. Battery level also shows on each person's card and in trip rider lists.

Tells you why someone stopped updating

If a member's location stops updating, Traxl asks their phone how it is and shows the likely reason next to their name: location permission turned off, location switched off, battery saver, or the battery was nearly empty at the last update and the phone has probably died. If the phone doesn't answer it says the phone is off, offline or the app was closed (Traxl can't tell those apart). Sharing paused inside the app is shown as paused.

One-tap check-ins

Two buttons in the Circle screen send "I'm safe" or "I've arrived" to everyone in it, and the check-in appears in the Activity feed. You can also ask a member to check in: they get a notification with an "I'm safe" button that answers without opening the app.

Ring a family member's phone

From a person's card, tap Ring to make their phone play a loud alarm tone with vibration for about nine seconds. It uses the phone's alarm volume, so it can be heard even when the ringer is turned down (a Do Not Disturb setting can still silence it). It is meant for finding a phone down the back of a sofa or getting a teenager's attention, and it never records any audio.

Group trips with arrival tracking

An organizer plans the route (a start and the stops, each with a 5 km arrival zone by default, optionally returning to the start), shares one QR with the group, and verifies each person who joins. The trip can start with just the organizer, and late joiners are verified while it is live. While it is live, every verified rider is on one map. Traxl notices when riders reach each stop and tells the organizer, and tells everyone when the whole group has arrived. If someone's phone dies, is off or has location turned off, the organizer sees why and can mark them as arrived, and a co-organizer can step in if the organizer's phone dies. The organizer or a co-organizer can edit the route at any time: in the lobby anything can change, and once live the stops still ahead can be changed while finished stops stay. Tap any rider to see how far they are and start navigation to them in Google Maps. Trips are separate from Circles, adults only, and location is shared with the group only while the trip is live. Joining a trip is always free; creating is limited on the free plan (2 trips a month, up to 3 riders, 4 stops, 1 co-organizer) and larger on Traxl Plus (unlimited trips, up to 50 riders, 15 stops, 3 co-organizers).

Trip history and a full report for every trip

Finished trips are listed under Past trips on the Home screen. Each one opens a report with the overview (riders, stops, duration, group distance, top speed), highlights (fastest, furthest, last into the most stops), a stop-by-stop timeline showing when the first and last riders arrived and who an organizer had to mark as arrived, and a breakdown per rider with distance, top speed, average moving speed, riding time and estimated hard braking and acceleration. Distances come from stored location history, so they can be missing for trips older than the plan keeps it (30 days free, 365 with Traxl Plus); the stop timeline always stays.

Route history, top speed and trip reports

See where a member has been on any day within your plan's history, with distance, top speed, stops and time on the move, and a heatmap of frequent routes. A day picker lists exactly the days you can open (14 days on the free plan, 365 with Traxl Plus). Reports also count hard braking and rapid acceleration while driving; these are estimates from the change in speed between location updates, not a brake sensor. Traxl does not give drivers a score or log phone use.

Records your route with mobile data off

With mobile data off, positions are queued on the phone and uploaded when a connection returns, keeping their original timestamps, so a dead zone leaves no gap in the route. Your Circle sees your last position until then, and SOS needs a connection.

Battery-aware background sharing

Traxl raises update frequency while you move and settles to a steady anchor when you stop, and a setup checklist walks through Android's battery and "Allow all the time" location settings so sharing does not stop at night.

Invite by link or QR code

Share an invite link (WhatsApp, SMS, anything) or let someone scan a QR code. Location is shared only with members of a Circle the user joined.

Widgets, shortcuts and a Quick Settings tile

Add the SOS widget or a Circle widget to the home screen, long-press the launcher icon for SOS and your Circles, or add the Traxl SOS tile to Quick Settings. All of them open straight onto the SOS countdown or the right Circle.

Built for teens, safely

Minimum age is 13; under-13 accounts are deleted immediately. Teenagers join a Circle only through an invite a parent or guardian confirms in their own app, the confirmation is recorded, and minors are never shown personalised ads. Everyone can see exactly who is in their Circle: Traxl is consent-based and has no hidden mode. Live links and group trips are for adults only.

Private by design

Location is shared only with members of a Circle the user joined, never public and never sold. Servers are in India. Users can export and delete their data from Settings, or from the delete-account page.

Free and Traxl Plus

Traxl Plus is per account: your own Plus unlocks your longer history, reports and maps and removes your ads. A Circle's size and saved places follow its owner's plan. Joining someone else's Circle or trip is always free.

Questions people ask

Is Traxl free?
Yes. Traxl is free on Google Play. The free plan shows ads and lets you create 1 Circle of up to 3 people, with 3 saved places per Circle, 14 days of history and standard and dark maps. Traxl Plus is ₹100 a month or ₹999 a year in India, two months free on yearly (priced in your own currency elsewhere, shown in Google Play before you subscribe): no ads, up to 15 Circles of up to 10 people, 15 places per Circle, 365 days of history, satellite and terrain maps, and bigger group trips. Plus is per account, and the Circle owner's Plus also lifts the Circle's size and saved places for everyone in it. Cancel any time in Google Play.
Is Traxl available on iPhone?
Coming soon. Traxl is on Google Play for Android now, and the iPhone app is coming soon.
Who can use Traxl?
Anyone 13 or older. Adults (18+) create Circles. Teenagers can join a Circle only through an invite their parent or guardian confirms, and children under 13 can't use Traxl. Live links and group trips are for adults only.
Can I track a group ride or road trip?
Yes. Create a trip, add your stops, share one QR, and verify each rider who joins. While the trip is live everyone is on one map, you're told as riders reach each stop, and everyone is told when the whole group has arrived. You can start with just yourself, edit the route any time, and name a co-organizer who can step in if your phone dies. If a rider's phone dies you can see why and mark them as arrived. Free accounts can create 2 trips a month for up to 3 riders; Traxl Plus is unlimited for up to 50. Joining a trip is always free. Every finished trip keeps a report.
Can I share my location with someone who doesn't have Traxl?
Yes. Create a live link for 15 minutes to 8 hours and send it on WhatsApp, SMS or anything else. They open it in a browser and see your live position on a map, with no app and no account, until the link runs out or you stop it.
Does Traxl have crash detection?
Yes. While you're driving, Traxl looks for a sudden stop together with an impact spike from the phone's accelerometer (ordinary hard braking doesn't count), asks "Are you OK?", and if you don't answer, alerts your Circle with the location. It alerts your family, not emergency services.
How does the SOS work?
One tap sends a high-priority alert with your live location to everyone in your Circle. You can start it from the app, a home-screen widget, a launcher shortcut, a Quick Settings tile, or by shaking the phone three times if you turn that on. There is always a short countdown you can cancel. SOS needs a data connection and alerts your Circle, not emergency services.
What if someone's location stops updating?
Traxl asks their phone how it is and shows the likely reason next to their name: location permission off, location switched off, battery saver, a battery that was nearly empty (the phone has probably died), or a phone that is off or offline. You can ask them to check in with one tap, or make their phone ring.
Does Traxl show speed and driving reports?
Reports show distance, top speed, halts and time on the move for any member, with day-by-day routes, and count hard braking and rapid acceleration as estimates from changes in speed. Traxl does not give drivers a score or log phone use while driving.
How is Traxl different from Life360?
Both share live location with a family group, with place alerts, SOS and crash detection. Traxl is built for Indian phones and data networks, records routes with mobile data off, is priced in rupees (₹100 a month or ₹999 a year), keeps 365 days of history on Plus, adds group trips and live links, and has a consent-first design for teens. Life360 offers extras Traxl doesn't, such as roadside assistance, and an iPhone app today; check its current listing. See the full comparison on the blog.
Does it work in the background?
Yes. Turn on background sharing once and your Circle keeps seeing you even when the app is closed. You can switch it off any time from Settings.
Does location sharing drain the battery?
Traxl sends a position every few seconds while you move and settles to a steady anchor when you're still, so a phone sitting at home barely pings at all.
Who can see my location?
Only members of a Circle you've joined, and people you give a live link to while it's active, or your group while a trip you joined is live. Never anyone else, and never publicly. Leave a Circle and sharing with it stops immediately.
Does it work without internet?
Your route keeps recording on the phone with mobile data off and uploads when a connection returns, with the original times. Your Circle sees your last position until then; SOS needs a connection.
Which countries is Traxl available in?
Most of the world through Google Play, including India, the US, Canada, Australia, the Gulf, Southeast Asia and Latin America. Not yet in the EU, UK, Switzerland, South Korea, Türkiye, Thailand, Russia, Vietnam or Kenya.
