People search for a Life360 alternative in India for three reasons: the price feels set for another country, the app is heavy on a budget phone, and the free plan keeps losing features. If any of those is you, the replacement has to do the four things Life360 does well: a family group on one map, place alerts, SOS, and tracking that survives the phone’s battery manager.

What Life360 does well

Credit where due. Life360 pioneered the “circle” model, its place alerts are reliable, and its driving reports are detailed. Families who pay for it mostly stay. Our issues with it are about fit for India, not quality.

What to check in any alternative

  1. Does it stay alive overnight on your phone? Install it, turn on background sharing, exclude it from battery optimisation, and check the next morning whether your partner’s phone still shows you at home. If it doesn’t, nothing else matters.
  2. Are place alerts a core feature or an afterthought? You want arrive and leave alerts for several places, and quiet hours so nobody is woken at 1 am by a “left home” ping from a late shift.
  3. Does SOS actually push? A notification that arrives in a minute is not an SOS. Test it.
  4. Pricing in rupees, for the whole family. Per-person subscriptions add up fast.
  5. Rules for teenagers. Who agreed to the tracking, and is it recorded?

Where Traxl fits

Traxl was built from that checklist. One Circle covers the family on the free plan (five people, with ads); Traxl Plus is ₹99 a month for the whole Circle, not per person, and removes ads, raises the limits and keeps a year of history. Place alerts with quiet hours and the one-tap SOS are in the free plan. Routes record while mobile data is off and upload when it’s back, which matters more in India than in Life360’s home market. Teenagers join only through a guardian-confirmed invite, and that confirmation is stored.

What Traxl does not have yet: an iPhone app, and the crash-detection-with-emergency-dispatch that Life360 sells on its top plan. Our crash and flight detection exists, but it alerts your Circle, not an emergency service.

Switching

There is nothing to migrate. Install Traxl from Google Play, create a Circle, send the invite link to your family on WhatsApp, and each person taps it. Set your places, turn on background sharing, and do the battery step in our brand-by-brand guide. Most families are done in ten minutes.
