To share your location with someone who does not use Traxl, create a live link in the app and send it. They open it in a browser and watch you move on a map until it expires or you stop it. No app, no sign-up.
How do you do it?
1. Open Traxl and pick Share live link. In the Traxl app open the Circle or the Share menu and choose Share live link.
2. Choose how long. Pick a duration. The link stops working on its own when the time is up.
3. Send the link. Send it by WhatsApp, SMS or any app. The person opens it in a normal browser.
4. Stop it whenever you like. Tap Stop sharing and the link dies at once, even if time is left.
What does the other person see?
Your position on a map, updating live, and nothing else: no Circle, no history, no other members. When the link ends the page says so.
How is it different from WhatsApp or Google Maps?
| Traxl live link | WhatsApp live location | Google Maps sharing | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Viewer needs an app | No, browser | Google Maps or Google account link | |
| You choose duration | Yes | 15 min, 1 h or 8 h | Yes, or until you stop |
| Stop anytime | Yes | Yes | Yes |
Fine print: for a one-off share, any of them is fine. Use a Traxl live link when the other person is not in your Circle and you would rather not hand them an app. For family you check every day, a proper Circle is better. Android now; iPhone coming soon (viewers on iPhone can already open the link in Safari).
