Crash detection on a phone combines motion sensors and speed: a sudden large jolt after travelling at speed, then stillness. Traxl uses this to alert your Circle, and gives the rider a moment to cancel a false alarm.

What does it look at?

  • A sharp deceleration after driving speed.
  • Whether the phone then stays still.
  • For flight detection, sustained high speed and altitude change, so family see “in flight” instead of silence.

What can it not do?

It cannot call emergency services, and it can be wrong in both directions: a phone thrown off a bike may not match the pattern, and a dropped phone may. Treat it as a second line of safety, not the first. Driving-event counts such as braking and acceleration are estimates from speed changes, not accelerometer measurements.

What should you do alongside it?

Set up SOS, keep battery optimisation off for Traxl (see the battery guide) and keep emergency numbers handy.
